Surrealist master René Magritte once mused, « Art evokes the mistery without wich the world would not exist ».Wending the fantastical with the real, contemporary artist Thierry Fazian creates magical surrealist figurative mixed media artwork that articulates the essence of emtion and celebrates the human spirit. Channeling this fascination with the figure into dream-like froms, Mr. Fazian conjures mystical apparitions that create a sens of intrigue and fantasy wich transcend the distraction of everyday life.

European surrealism and Caribbean mysticism in his expressive abstract figurative artworks. Motivated by his native homeland, the french carribbean island of Guadeloupe, Thierry Fazian utilizes the art historical technique « assemblage » heralded by Modern Masters including Marcel Duchamps and Robert Rauschenberg by constructing tree-dimensional works of art out of paint and found objects. Environmental inspiration is mirorred in his tree-dimensional works by recycling retired materials and re-appropriating them from thier resting place within the urbanized environement.

Fazian is equally inspired by the undulating curves of Surrealist dreamscapes as well as the mystical symbolism. Stones, woods, metal, glass are layed over smooth applications of richly hued paints, lending his work a spectaculary rich and complex texture. Cool colors dominate his palette, with bold blue and turquoise representative of the Caribbean ocean's pristine waters. Creating luxurious texture in nuanced, lush layers of brillant hues, light also plays prominently in the dazzling compositions as it illuminates the sublime emotional vistas and textural backgrounds.

The overall effect is one of visceral expressionist introspection and aesthetic intriguing that encourages the viewer to appreciate the whimsical juxtapositions of life.
